Dekker Daily had the change to interview Thomas Dekker at Texas Frightmare Weekend last week and asked him about “The Walk of Fame”, his new directorial project starring Nico. Here’s a transcription of the video interview in which Thomas explains how the script came together, what it is about and confirms some of the actors attached:

It’s a screenplay that I wrote that sort of I made this film “Whore” and it was the unscripted, sort of unfocused, very young, very nihilistic, very aggressive approach to this subject that fascinates me which is that Hollywood per square mileage has more prostitutes under the age of 21 than anywhere else in the country and I believe that after three years of interviewing and meeting with young prostitutes to be due to the fact of the hope of celebrity obsession and the dream of sort of success and wealth; and I’m fascinated by how this wish translates to dire consequences so I guess where “Whore” was full of reckless abandon, we revisited the idea and wrote a far more mature and empathetic script and so I wrote this film and I actually met one of my executive producers Kevin Iwashina at the Toronto Film Festival when I was there with “Kaboom” and he was interested in the idea and he read the script and he loved it and took it to Christine Vachon, who I have been a huge fan of for years and years, with Killer Films and all of the amazing movies shed done, and they both sort of became pioneers of this story so then we got our producers in tow and our executive producers were there and then we cast it and there are still two roles that are open, the one female lead was written for Rooney Mara who is totally down to do it but she’s off doing “Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”, so we’re kinda figuring that out, there’s a lot being figured out […].

It’s sort of about two subjects, one that Ive studied for years and years which is homelessness and prostitution ??? ??? American youth which is something that I don’t know personally but also this idea of how much do you give yourself over to the dream of what Hollywood now means, I guess, which is something very personally, I grown up in this since I was five so it’s a very emotional and impassioned idea and it is happening and it will be shot soon, we were gonna be shooting this month due to my series, if and when it is picked up, now shooting, and just amazing actors and actresses that Ive had the courtesy of working with or meeting throughout the years. […]

So far they’re proud to be attached, so I guess I can say, Shiloh Fernandez, Kyle Gallner, Haley Bennett, Nico Tortorella, Natasha Lyonne, Lena Headey, I think that might be it. We have a bunch of cameos too but that’s really not worth discussing. And the cinematographer from Gregg Araki’s film “Kaboom” is shooting it with me, we really get along and I sort of have this obsession that everybody behind the camera be a woman. Just because I feel the subject is really needs that sensitivity and needs that sort of motherly approach because its really bleak and very stark and aggressive but I wanna tell it in a very poetic and gentle way.

You can watch the original video on YouTube. A huge thank you goes out to Sam at Mischa-B.com for helping with the transcription. We couldn’t really make out a couple of spots so if you can figure out the “???” feel free to leave a comment with your interpretation.

Nico graces the pages of the May 2011 issues of “CS” (a luxury magazine distributed in Chicago) and “Bunker Hill” (a downtown Los Angeles magazine). The photo used in “CS” is an outtake from Christian Rios’ photoshoot for “Fiasco”, while the “Bunker Hill” photos are new and were taken by Jeff Berlin earlier this year.

I’m a little late posting this interview with Reel Movie News, sorry about the delay:

EXCLUSIVE: Nico Tortorella Talks Scream 4 and Playing Tricks on the Cast
Nico Tortorella recently caught up with Reel Movie News to talk about his experience on the set of Scream 4 and what it was like working with such a big cast of great actors.
“This is the second movie Ive ever done and it was just a monster cast, or a ghost face cast you could say,” he told us. “It was just epic, still is”
He also talked about his new movie Trespass, co-starring Nicholas Cage and Nicole Kidman.
Check out the rest of the interview below. Scream 4 is currently in theaters.

Scream is doing great at the box office. Congrats! How was it working on that film?
Yeah! Thank you! It was awesome. When you go into a movie like this where you know whos going to die, whats going to happen and how its going to end, its so much fun putting all of the pieces together of how youre going to get to the final project. The cast was amazing, Wes [Craven] was amazing, Michigan was great. It was one of the best summers of my life.

How was it working with such a huge cast?
It was crazy. This is the second movie Ive ever done and it was just a monster cast, or a ghost face cast you could say. [laughs] It was just epic, still is.

Did the cast play tricks on each other?
Oh yeah, for sure. We were all staying in different hotels. A few of us would just go late at night and scare other people. Wed put the mask on and go knock on windows. It was fun. We scared the shit out of Emma Roberts one night. At her place, three of us came up to the window; she didnt know we were coming over. She was terrified. Shes very easily frightened, that one. [laughs] So it was a lot more fun.

Had you seen the other Scream movies? Are you a horror movie fan?
I didnt grow up watching the Scream movies. I hadnt watched them until I auditioned. I wouldnt have made it my first go-to, to see a horror movie out of all movies. Afterwards, I have a huge respect for the genre and the creators, directors and writers. Its a different kind entertainment. Ive gone back and watched a lot of Wes Craven’s original movies and he really knows what hes doing.

Favorite Wes Craven film and horror film in general?
For Wes Craven, The Last House on the Left. Jaws, Hostile and Saw scared the shit out of me.

Tell me about your other film Trespass.
It has Joel Schumacher [director], Nicolas Cage, Cam Gigandet and Nicole Kidman in it. I play a nice little role that comes in half way through the movie. It was fun. I loved working with Joel. Its a super high paced action hostage movie. Itll be a good one. Again, another monster cast.
A house gets broken into in a hell hostage, and the whole movie takes place in the house. The house they built was inside the convention center of the hotel we stayed in. It was very easy to get to work. [laughs]

What can you tell me about your character?
Hes the life of the party. Thats all I can tell you.

Nico also wanted me to note that he does not have a Twitter account. Any accounts with his name are fake.

As I previously reported Nico is featured in the April/May 2011 issue of Chicago’s “Michigan Avenue” magazine with a lovely photo taken by Nico’s brother Rocco (a reprint from the October 2009 issue of “Ocean Drive”) and a handwritten interview. The official site has released a transcript of the interview:

Wilmette native Nico Tortorella is more than just a pretty facethough he is certainly that. The actor, an alum of New Trier Township High School, began acting professionally in Chicago in the seventh grade. He landed his big break on television, with roles in The Beautiful Life: TBL and Make It or Break It, and now he has his eye on the silver screen. In April he stars in the highly anticipated fourth installment of freaky franchise Scream, opposite Emma Roberts and many of the original cast members. We got the scoop on Tortorellas career goals, what its like to film a scary movie and his surprisingand permanenthobby.

Who was your favorite Scream costar to work with?
NICO TORTORELLA: David Arquette, hands down. Never a dull moment when he’s around. The new cast walked into a family already established and they welcomed us with open arms.

Are there moments when its actually scary working on a horror movie set?
NT: The voice of Scream, Ghostface, was the scariest part. The actor who plays himthe voicewas on set the whole time but no one knew who he was…It was pretty scary.

What was the hardest part about transitioning from modeling to acting?
NT: People always ask me this question, and its funny because I’ve always been an actor first and foremost. Modeling is fun, but the screen is where my heart is.

Who is your dream actor or director to work with?
NT: I have such a hard time answering this question. I feel like anyone I say would just sound clich. Clearly all the classics, and all the up-and-comers. Can I say everyone?

How many tattoos do you have? What do they symbolize?
NT: Eight or nine. It’s always a work in progress. My body is a personal journal throughout the years. [It’s] a lot of family tats and my connection to nature.

If you werent an actor, what would you be?
NT: A sustainable developer; green architect. One of my dreams is to buy pre-war standing buildings and renovate them to be one-hundred percent sustainable. I’ll get to it one of these days.

Thanks Tiffany at Nico-Tortorella.org for the heads up.

According to an article recently posted on “Interview” magazine’s website Nico will be starring in a new movie directed by actor Thomas Dekker:

Thomas Dekker […] has already graduated to write and direct his first feature film, called The Walk of Fame. (Its set to begin shooting this month with fellow young upstarts Nico Tortorella and Shiloh Fernandez and will be produced by Christine Vachons Killer Films.) […]

I will try and find more information about the movie but right now this is all I could find. Thanks to Marie for the heads up.

“Empire” magazine interviewed Nico for the website:

Exclusive: Nico Tortorella Interview
The Scream 4 star spills his guts…
One of the new generation of actors/victims drafted into Scream 4, Nico Tortorella plays Trevor Sheldon, the boyfriend of Emma Roberts’ Jill. We spoke to him about breaking into acting, taking his first steps in the Scream world and pretending to be Ghostface…

How did you get into acting?
I’ve been acting since I was 8 – I used to play hockey and there was a kids’ theatre down the street from my house and one day I just walked in and signed up for auditions for The Wizard Of Oz. I went in, auditioned and got cast as a Munchkin. From that point on I just had to decide if I wanted to carry on with hockey or stick with the acting. And I jumped right in to acting and have been there since.

Did you watch the Scream films?
I didn’t watch the Scream films, I don’t even remember them coming out. I remember the parodies, like Scary Movie, but I didn’t watch any of the Scream films until after I auditioned. It was funny because the first audition at the casting was the last scene of the first Scream film, the murder scene, and I had no idea, went in with my whole own interpretation. I only realised afterwards so it was pretty embarrassing.

How did you get involved with the film?
I was doing auditions for different horror films at the time when the Scream auditions came up. Everyone was going for it, all my friends in LA and New York. I had a meeting with all the casting directors, then I auditioned four more times, in New York, LA, with the other cast and crew, in front of the Weinsteins. It was never ending. At one point they told me I was too tall to play the role – everyone else was already cast and they were all small so they thought I’d look out of place. Luckily on the 5th casting I got it! It was pretty much smooth sailing after that!

Tell us about your character?
I can’t say too much. Basically I play Trevor Sheldon, he’s the head honcho at school, he’s mean, he picks on people, he’s basically a total asshole to everyone – which was fun to play. But then when you see him on his own, not surrounded by other jocks and kids at school he’s actually a decent guy.

The strapline of the move is ‘new decade, new rules’. What are the new rules?
It’s been a decade of scary movies that have come out since Scream 3 – from all the Saw movies to the gore to the goreporn etc – this is taking it back to its roots. A lot more can happen this time around – it’s not as set in stone as the other ones.

What was it like to work with Wes?
Amazing! He’s a genius! One side is a genius with a crazy vocab – most of the time I couldn’t understand what he was saying! The other half of him is a little kid who loves making scary movies and scaring the crap out of everyone!

Did you get to wear the mask at any point? Off set, that is – don’t give anything away!
Oh yes! It was definitely on all of us! We all got a chance to run around with it on pretending to be the killer off camera. And we all stayed in different places in Michigan when Scream was being filmed so there were a lot of pranks going on – we’d sneak over to people’s houses and scare the shit outta them! It was fun. The whole summer was a big party – it was one of the best of my life!
