“Younger” star Nico Tortorella got candid with Andy Cohen during his radio show Monday when discussing the impact a man’s sexuality has on his acting career.
“The conversation lives in can you still be a leading man and be somewhere other than ‘normal,'” Tortorella told Cohen. “And I think for me, this is the time to reinvent the leading man.”
“We’ve only seen one leading man basically since the beginning of Hollywood,” he continued. “And I think it’s just time to have so many different types of leading men — gay leading men, trans leading men, racially diverse leading men — and I fit somewhere into that picture.”
When Cohen asked Tortorella if he found himself more attracted to women or to men, Tortorella had a “hard time answering.”
“I don’t really believe in the binary of gender in the first place, so I have a hard time answering that question,” he said. “I think that there is a wide spectrum — more of a universe, really — and I’ve dated in between the male and female, so I don’t really look at it as one or the other.”
When Cohen asked Tortorella to clarify, Tortorella said he’s dated “gender-nonconforming folk and trans folk” in the past and that he’s currently dating “a few different people.”
