Scream 4 Star Nico Never Thinks About a “Plan B”
By Angel Lenise Robinson

Veganism. Architecture. Vintage, blood-stained army pants. Not the top three things that come to mind when thinking of Nicolo Luigi Tortorella. You may just know him as Nico: the chiseled, blue-eyed model-turned-actor. But the trite phrase that he is now most famous for, is a label the Illinois native refuses to be defined by.
“My goal as an artist, above acting and above the material possession of anything, is to be able to give back,” said the 22-year-old, clad in cargo pants circa 1947, and a Native American-inspired sweater.
The self-proclaimed “mommys boy,” landed a leading role in one of the seasons most-anticipated blockbusters, “Scream 4.” In his second feature film to date, Tortorella plays the popular Trevor Sheldon, who may – or may not – have a sinister side.
Youll have to wait and see the madness unfold in the horror film sequel once its released today. In real life, though, theres not a sinister bone in Tortorellas body.

“Its kind of that midwestern value and family value that I never gave up,” Tortorella said.
He didnt give up on his acting dreams either.
“The most important thing is just to trust your gut and to just stand by what you believe in; theres no other option but you. Never think about a plan B. If you have a plan A…execute it.”
That plan was put into action when Tortorella was cast in “The Wizard of Oz” as a pre-teen. From there, he caught the acting bug.
“Ive known my entire life that this is what I was going to be doing and this would be my career path.”
Tortorella dabbled in television, appearing on ABC Familys “Make It or Break It,” in 2009 and in last years short-lived drama, “The Beautiful Life.” His film debut came in 2010 in Joel Schumachers “Twelve.” Its based off of a novel of the same name and featured Tortorella’s “Scream 4” co-stars, Rory Culkin and Emma Roberts.
“[Joel, the director] told us this was our movie…we were able to improvise much of what we did on film.”
A level of artistic freedom that Tortorella says spoiled him, but also helped nab his coveted role in Wes Cravens “Scream” franchise.
“I came into the audition not knowing what I was reading,” Tortorella said. “I worked on such a free project [Twelve] before hand that I was able to run with it.”
After a rigorous set of auditions, and almost being cut because he was too tall, Tortorella landed the “Scream 4” spot.
With Tortorellas growing fame and leading-man potential, hes also staying true to his other passions.
He studied “all over the board” of art, design, and visual expression during a stint at Columbia College (Chicago) in 2007. He originally wanted to couple his creative interests with business and build a career in sustainable architecture. After less than a semester, Tortorella determined that a degree was not for him.
“Its [green living], part of how I live my life every day. I didnt need to go to school to have that be a part of my life.”
Hes practiced a vegan, raw, and primal diet until settling on his current philosophy of knowing what his body needs and how it will react to what he eats. He owns an 1896 Singer sewing machine that he uses to produce 100 percent, recycled-leather bags for his eco-friendly fashion line. And, the now California resident lives on a one-acre property in San Bernardino (with his parents and brother), where he says, “I found myself in nature.”
With todays debut of “Scream 4,” a lead role in a film adaptation of Dean Koontzs “Odd Thomas,” and negotiations underway for “The Philosopher,” Hollywood is certainly clamoring for Tortorella.
But he says hes different.
“I think its my sense of humility,” Tortorella said in his ability to avoid the stigma associated with young, Hollywood stars.
Just how good he is with avoiding the ladies, though, is a whole other topic.

The Italian heartthrob let me in on a secret. It involves a big red bow and an old-school Mercedes for a special person in his life. A girlfriend perhaps? Think again. Tortorella put all the relationship rumors to bed.
“Im single.”

admin / April 13th, 2011   Odd Thomas,Articles/Interviews

Nico has joined the cast of “Odd Thomas”, a movie based on a serie of thriller books. According to The Hollywood Reporter:

Nico Tortorella, who is one of the key players in the class of 2011 actors in Scream 4, is in negotiations to nab the villain role in Odd Thomas, Stephen Sommers’ adaptation of the Dean Koontz book series.
Fusion Films’ John Baldecchi and Howard Kaplan are producing with Sommers, who wrote the screenplay and is directing.
The story centers on a short-order cook named Odd Thomas (played by Anton Yelchin) who can commune with the dead, a secret only his girlfriend (Addison Timlin) and the local police (Willem Dafoe) chief know.

The young man can also spot malevolent forces called bodachs, who feed on pain and portent imminent death. When Odd sees them in spades surrounding a stranger, he finds himself in a race against time to avert a catastrophe.
Tortorella will play an officer working under Dafoe, secretly a member of a Satanic cult bent on destroying the town.
The movie, with a budget in the $20-30 million range, is due to shoot in New Mexico later this spring and summer.

In Scream 4, Tortorella, repped by Gersh, plays Emma Roberts’ ex-boyfriend who mysteriously pops up at convenient times during the movie.
His other credits include Twelve, directed by Joel Schumacher, and ABC Family’s Make It of Break It.

Nico was recently interviewed by Seventeen magazine:

Exclusive Interview: Scream 4’s Nico Tortorella
The Scream 4 star talks about watching the original movies for the first time, jerky guys, and falling in love in high school.

Scream 4 Nico Tortorella plays the hot, cocky dude who can have any girl, but in real life, he knows what it’s like to have to fight for a girl’s attention. The Make It Or Break It cutie sat down with Seventeen to dish about guys who think they’re better than everyone else, dating in high school, and finally watching those original Scream movies.

Have you always been a big Scream fan?
I hadn’t actually seen any of the first three movies until I was halfway through the audition process. But now Im a big fan. I was a bit young when those movies came out. I remember the Scary Movie series coming out for sure, and I was a big fan of those. Its funny. After seeing the first three originals and working on the forth, those Scary Movies make a lot more sense now than they did when I was a kid. The first audition scene that I read was the last scene in the first movie. So I had no idea what was really going on when I auditioned for the first time. And then I watched the movie and was like, Oh, thats why they had me read that scene!

Your character in this movie is dating Emma Roberts, and kind of a big-deal hot guy on campus. Did you know guys like that in school?
For sure. All of the partying jocks in my high schoolmostly the wrestlerswere the guys I based this character on. They walked around in their jerseys thinking that they were the greatest thing in high school and that everybody else was beneath them.

That sounds really different from your character on Make It Or Break It, whos sort of on the sidelines, pining for a girl who is in love with his friend. Which guy is closer to who you are, in real life?
First of all, I love Razor. Hes definitely the most like me, of any character that Ive ever played. In high school, there was this one other guy who always dated the same girls as I did. Like I was dating this one girl and then six months later, he was dating her. There was a group of four girls who we both dated. There was another girl who he was dating, but I fell in love with and started writing songs about freshman year, and then I won her over. But then, sophomore year, it was the reverse and I was with this girl and he did the same type of thing, and it happened throughout all of high school.

Great news today, dear visitors! Nico just got cast, apparently as one of the leads, in the new “Scream 4” movie currently in pre-production.

Unfortunately we don’t have an official confirmation on the character Nico will play (see below), but we have some information about the movie to keep us going until more details leak:

The “Scream 4” script was written by Kevin Williamson (who also penned the other 3 “Scream” movies and tv hit “The Vampire Diaries”), and will be directed by Wes Craven (the visionaire behind the “Scream” trilogy and another gazilion of horror movies), it will be produced by The Weinstein Company and distributed by Dimension Films.

Already confirmed among the cast are Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Neve Campbell (reprising their roles from the original “Scream” trilogy and serving as an integration to the new kids’ storyline), Emma Roberts and Rory Culkin (both already worked with Nico in the upcoming “Twelve”, playing Jill Kesslar and Charlie Walker respectively); Hayden Panettiere (set to play Kirby Reed) and Lake Bell (as Deputy Judy Hicks) have also been confirmed.

My guess, based on the casting calls released, is that Nico will play a character named Trevor Sheldon, described as: “Handsome high school jock, but quiet and intense, as though a secret hangs over his head”. All the remaining uncasted characters are either females or men in their 30-40s, you do the math. This is just my guess, and it hasn’t been confirmed.

Principal photography is set to begin in and around Ann Arbor (Michigan) on June 28 and the movie is scheduled for an April 15, 2011 release.

The plot synopsis, according to IMDb:

Ten years have passed, and Sidney Prescott, who has put herself back together thanks in part to her writing, is visited by the Ghostface Killer

Not much, I know. Hopefully we will know more soon. In the meantime, make sure you subscribe to the newsletter on the movie’s official site, follow it on Twitter, and become a fan on Facebook.

And last, but definitely not least, Nico’s reaction to the casting news (follow him on Twitter: @_NicoTortorella):

Huge news today!!!! Just officially got cast in scream 4!!!! Today is always the best day of my life

admin / December 3rd, 2009   Twelve,Articles/Interviews

Finally some news!! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nico’s first movie, “Twelve”, will be screened on Sundance festival’s closing night (January 31, 2010):

“Twelve,” a drama from director Joel Schumacher and writer Jordan Melamed, will screen as the festival’s closing-night film.
“I just wanted something that was young and raucous and a little bizarre,” Cooper said of choosing the film, which stars 50 Cent, Chace Crawford and Emma Roberts in a story about sex, drugs and murder among privileged kids on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

Reliable sources confirmed to us that Nico is scheduled to attend the screening (unless he’s busy filming other projects abroad).
