Paul Fitzgerald, Mary Catherine Garrison and Nico Tortorella will co-star opposite Augustus Prew in Mamma Dallas, HBO’s comedy pilot by Enlightened creator Mike White, who also will have a role on the show. Written, directed and executive produced by White, the half-hour project follows a couple, Carrie Cox (Garrison) and Hugh Cox (Fitzgerald), who unwittingly hire a hard-living drag queen, Liberty (Prew), as their live-in nanny. Liberty appears to be an attractive woman with a flirty side – but she’s really a drag queen with an upbeat personality. On a path that leads to jail or prostitution or both, Liberty (also known as Albert) sees a future that will destroy his basically optimistic spirit and re-invents himself to get a job as a nanny to three children of a conservative Texan family.

With her decorating business taking off, perfectionistic Carrie needs a nanny to help with the kids, and it doesn’t occur to Carrie that she’s having a long talk about childrearing with a drag queen. Hugh is an earnest, successful man with political aspirations who is deathly afraid of any hint of scandal.

Tortorella plays Liberty’s lowlife boyfriend Jesse, who runs a chop shop and steals high-priced sports cars with Liberty’s help. He’s horrified that his macho friends will find out he’s dating a guy.

White plays Liberty’s roommate Tammy, a chain smoker who is always strung out and has no life ambitions.

White is executive producing the pilot with Dede Gardner.

The 12-episode series hits the small screen in January 2015.

TV Land’s new comedy Younger has an official premiere date and an official full-length trailer.

Starring Tony winner Sutton Foster and Hilary Duff, the 12-episode Younger will premiere Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on the Viacom-owned cable network, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

From executive producer Darren Star, Younger follows 40-year-old Liza (Foster), a single mother who tries to get back into the working world, only to find it’s nearly impossible to start at the bottom at her age. When a chance encounter with Josh (Nico Tortorella), a young tattoo artist, convinces her she looks younger than she is, Liza tries to pass as 26 – with the help of a makeover, courtesy of her best friend (Debi Mazar). Miriam Shor co-stars.

Filming is underway in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Patricia Field, who worked with Star on Sex and the City, will serve as the costume designer on Younger.

“We are all excited about the premiere on January 13,” said Larry W. Jones, president of TV Land. “This show is sleek, alluring and all-around fantastic. The characters are funny and relatable, Darren is full of creativity and the sexy cast is bringing their A-game. The end of every script leaves us wanting more.”

The news comes one day after TV Land greenlighted two new comedies: Michael Rosenbaum’s Impastor and Teachers, executive produced by Community’s Alison Brie.

Examiner.com interviewed Nico about ‘The Following’ and Jacob, the character he portraits.

Here’s the first part from the interview:

“The Following is easily the best new show of the season, with each week bringing thrills, chills, edge of your seat moments, and surprises. On Friday, we chatted with series star Nico Tortorella, who plays Jacob, one of Joe Carroll’s (James Purefoy) followers who is “a product of the upper-middle class who is deep-seated with daddy issues,” as the actor describes him.

Examiner.com: Where does Jacob fall in the “hierarchy,” I guess you could call it, of the followers? We see that Emma’s [played by Valorie Curry] the leader, but what’s Jacob’s role?

Nico Tortorella: “We all have our specific roles and relationships with Joe and in terms of the hierarchy, I don’t know that there necessarily is. There are people who are second in command who will come up later, but in terms of my position I would say that I’m in charge of somewhat taking care of his son right now, so that’s pretty high up there because between his wife and his son, that’s really what he’s trying to take care of.”

He knows they both love him, crazy enough, and he loves both of them.

How much will we see of Jacob in flashbacks?

“A lot. You’re going to learn a lot from Jacob. You’ll learn a lot from all the followers actually in flashbacks. The show lives just as much in flashbacks as it does in real time. It’s kind of like the prequel to everything that you’re seeing.”

How would you describe Jacob’s relationship with Emma?

“Jacob and Emma start dating three, four years ago, and it’s pretty strong. He’s definitely fully in love with her and looks up to her and is her best friend too.”

And Jacob’s relationship with Paul [played by Adan Canto]?

“It’s relatively the same. He definitely loves and cares for Paul. He’s been in a house for three years pretending to be in a relationship with him. We kind of completely support each other in terms of being part of this cult. You’ll see really how it all unfolds pretty soon.”

And how does it affect Jacob how he sees things between Emma and Paul?

“He’s kind of the mediator between the two of them. We’ve all spent time together before, but this is kind of like our big reunion and this is the first time we’ve been living in a house together and it sucks for him, but he knows they both love him, crazy enough, and he loves both of them, so he’s just going to do whatever it takes to make it work.”

It’s a pretty dark show. Are there any moments that stand out for you?

“It’s pretty dark, and that’s the whole theme of the show, but I think that a lot of the characters, our storyline, Kevin Bacon included, are able to bring moments of comedy to the show and light-hearted moments, which are my favorite parts of the storyline personally. It’s not all bad.”

admin / June 7th, 2012   The Following,Articles/Interviews

Here’s another batch of reviews and comments of “The Following” gathered around the web courtesy of the lucky bastards journalists who got to see the pilot in advance.

TV For The Rest of Us had the chance to watch it during a Warner Bros screening in Sydney and blogged:

Written by Kevin Williamson, “The Following” automatically got my attention. The premise is, Ryan Hardy, retired FBI agent, played by Kevin Bacon is called back into the field when a serial killer he put away, Joe Carroll played by the always charming, yet disarming James Purefoy, escapes custody in a bloody rampage. Carroll is an ex-English professor/novelist, who killed 14 of his female students by cutting out their eyes. He has a thing for Poe. In his original killing spree, one of his students got away. Now the fear is he’s trying get to her to finish his story, which is his version of Poe’s last unfinished work.

“The Following” feels like it’s going to be a bit of a stock standard FBI, hunt them down procedural, but it’s not. Carroll is so charismatic that over his years in prison, he has gathered a following; students as such, people who will to go to any length to help him. No one knows how far his tentacles have reached into society.

“The Following” was excellent. I usually don’t dig this kind of show but Kevin Bacon is as wonderful as ever, Purefoy is handsome and creepy, it’s INCREDIBLY gory and violent and just when you think it’s all sort of wrapped up, the last 5 minutes are an ABSOLUTE CORKER. The last 5 minutes made me go, oh wow! I’m not telling you anything else. It’s just a really neat idea, really well done and though I see this as probably playing out as an episodic show with an overarching serialised plot, it’s different enough from the usual procedural cop stuff, to stand head and shoulders above it. Williamson has shown again why he is one of the best and most original writers out there. “The Following,” you got to see it just to enjoy the cleverness of the bad guy and what he has in store. Watch itpossibly with your hands over your eyes here and there.

Tiffany Vogt, reporter for the TV Addict, wrote on her Twitter account:

Fox’s #TheFollwing starring Kevin Bacon was excellent too, but scared the beegeebizes out of me. Horror fans are going to love it.

The pilot episode will be screened during Comic-Con 2012, an annual pop culture convention held in San Diego. According to the official press several new Warnes Bros pilots including “The Following” will be screened on Preview Night on July 11, while a panel session with Kevin Williamson (creator and writer), Marcos Siega (director) and actors Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy will be hosted on July 14.

Screeners of the pilot episode of “The Following” have apparently been sent out to blogs and journalists as the first reviews and comments are starting to surface, and they are all positive! Some highlights:

Danielle Turchiano at Made Possible by Pop Culture blogs:

Kevin Williamson set the bar high this year with a dark, twisted script that in no way seemed like it could work on network television. But thankfully the team assembled to create the pilot didn’t f— it up!

[…] This show feeds the procedural need in much of FOX’ audience by offering a “case of the week” with a murder or kidnapping, but at its core its much more about the mental games and the subconscious connection between two men who are on the edge. They say there is a thin line between cop and criminal, and you will never see that picture better painted than in this new show.

Jean Bentley, contributing editor at Zap 2 It, tweets:

Was terrified to sleep after watching #TheFollowing. @kevwilliamson is an evil genius.

The Televixen tweets:

Holy freakin freakity freak!!! #TheFollowing is hands down one of the best pilots I’ve ever seen! Major kudos to @kevwilliamson & @msiega

Alix Sternberg, who runs The TV Chick, tweets:

The script for #TheFollowing shook me up, so it’s no surprise that the pilot had the same effect. Enthralling, amazing & totally brilliant.

More will be posted at they become available.
